Info On Clothes Driers

I received this in an email and felt it was worth sharing. . .I actually cleaned my screen on the lint filter and it was dirty. . .

>The heating unit went out on my dryer!
>
> The guy that fixes things went in to the dryer pulled out the lint filter.
>
> It was clean. We always clean the lint from the filter after every load of
>
> clothes.
>
> He told us that he wanted to show us something. He took the filter over to
>
> the sink, ran hot water over it. Now, the lint filter is made of a mesh
>
> material - I'm sure you
>
> know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. WELL...the hot water just
>
> sat on top of the mesh!!! It didn't go through it at all!!! He told us
> that
>
> dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating
>
> unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's
>
> there. This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire & potentially
>
> burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer
>
> working for a very long
>
> time (& to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out &
> wash
>
> it with hot soapy water & an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least
> every
>
> six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as
>
> long! How about that???!!!! Learn something new everyday! I certainly
>
> didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I
>
> Thought I'd share! Note: I went to my dryer & tested my screen by running
>
> water on it. The water ran thru a little bit but mostly collected all the
>
> water in the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water & a nylon
> brush
>
> & I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it the water ran right
>
> thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! That repairman knew

> he was talking about!

Please forgive me if I post a lot of things like this or don't post at all these next few weeks. My semester is winding down and I will be hooked up getting projects finished up, studying for tests and chasing the boys at ballgames. . .

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! :)

I know I'm a day early but don't know if I'll be able to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow! ! !

'TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED-
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL MY MIGHT

TOSSING AND TURNING
WITH ANTICIPATION
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK
BECAME INFATUATION

SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN
FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE,
FULL OF GOODIES GALORE

I GOBBLED UP THE TURKEY
AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS,
BEANS AND TOMATOES.

I FELT MYSELF SWELLING
SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN
I ROSE OFF THE GROUND

I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING,
FLOATING INTO THE SKY
WITH MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING
AND A HANDFUL OF PIE

BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL
AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL-
PASS THE CRANBERRIES PLEASE

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP,
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY
HAVE NARY A LUMP,
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE A PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER
STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!!

MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING BE BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scoop has 2 down and many more to go

Scoop played an AWESOME game last night. . .The 9th grade boys basketball team beat one of their rivals 34 - 23. . .

The boys might have a coach that doesn't know the game, but I guarantee you, you would have not known that with the way they played. The boys worked so good together last night, they passed, rebounded, and made shots almost as good as the pros - hehe.

It was really wierd to see Scoop jump for the ball. He has always been one of the smaller boys on the team, now he's one of the tallest ones. . . :)

They play Kingfisher tonight at home and hopefully they will play the game they played last night, rather than the game they gave them last week. . .

Countdown to Bud's first game - 10 days. . .

Have I told you all I LOVE BASKETBALL!

Monday, November 20, 2006

Wow, 100

I never dreamed that my 100th post would be on Bud's toe. . .HeHe

Cut to the chase, it actually looks better than it did! The afternoon turned into a fiasco. . .When we got to the doctor's office they told me that they had been trying to call me all do. . .I found that hard to believe, they didn't call my mother who is my emergency contact. . .Doctor had been called to the hospital and we needed to reschedule - ug! The soonest that they could do it would be Monday, November 27th. . Uh, no. . .#1 Bud's first basketball game is Friday, December 1 and #2 that is Birddog's birthday. . .

I panicked. . .Called my friend BB and kept asking her what to do. . .Called Birddog and asked him what to do. . .This week is out - - -it's Thanksgiving week! ! ! Good grief! Why didn't they call every # they had?! I could have called another doctor or something! ! ! !I'm fretting and really po'd at this point. . .

I called the Urgent Care clinic and explained the situation in hopes that they would say, "Yea, we'll fix it." But "no" - they might or might not treat it. . .Ok, I took the gamble. . .

And, "yes, they fixed his nail!" Thank goodness. . .it's not pretty by any means, but I can't believe how much better it looks! ! ! !

Are you ready? See for yourself. . .

They didn't remove the whole nail and put stuff in the nail bed so that his nail won't grow there anymore. . .You thought the before picture was bad and I'm sure some of you think this picture is bad - YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN WHAT THEY DUG OUT! ! !

Now, I'll end my post showing what Bud did while Scoop and Birddog went hunting Saturday morning. . .'cuz he couldn't put a shoe on. . .

Today is the Day

Today Bud gets his toe nail removed. . .He's nervous. MY POOR BABY!

Tonight is Hoopin' with the Horns, which is a fun night for everyone. The Booster Club sells Taco Salad and Hot Dogs, the Junior High and High School Basketball Players are all introduced, and then to wind up the evening there is a faculty vs. parents basketball game (women and then men). This will be the third year that we have done this and it is really a lot of fun. . .

We design t-shirts every year and I think this year's is the best yet!

This will be on the front. It will be small and where you would have a pocket.

This is the back of the shirt. We had all the basketball players in high school sign their signature and the print company has inlaid these in the basketball. (I can't get that picture to load, so use your imagination). . .Really cool!

And, yes, the shirts are red and white tye-dye. . .

Have a GREAT Friday! ! ! ! Be watching for pics! ! ! Bud's toe, without a nail, will be making it's day view soon.

Leave It Or Not

Okay, I scared several of you yesterday with my new added music. . .I actually grabbed attention to Julie in class and that probably wasn't a very good thing. . .

So, here's my poll - leave the music or go back to my quiet site?

Scoop's First Game of Season

We drove to Kingfisher last night, which is about 45 minutes away, for Scoop's first basketball game of the season. . .We made it with NO INJURIES! ! ! ! yea! ! !

I was really impressed with the way he played, couldn't even tell that he's only been released for a couple of weeks full activity.

Most of the boys have played together for a long time now and you can tell. Our Athletic Director, I think that's where I point the finger, doesn't make much sense. . .The poor Freshmen, present and past, never get a REAL basketball coach. They always get one of the assistant football coaches to coach them, which usually means that they don't know the game of basketball. It's sad because they just let that group fall between the cracks and then their sophomore year they are expected to know what they want, and the A.D. just happens to be the Varsity coach. . .How much sense does that make? Scoop said that him, Bones (11), and Aus (42) were making up plays last night and that at half-time the coach just told them they were doing good and asked them if anyone had anything to say. . .Now, they had made some pretty dumb mistakes - the boys past coach and their future coach would have ripped them from stem to stern about LANE VIOLATION (more than once). . .LOL
The same thing happened to Bud his Freshman year. Bud and his buddy, K, called the plays. . .Pretty dumb if you ask me.

Oh well, enough griping, the boys won 25 - 24. . .It was a neck in neck game the whole game, so it is safe to say it was a good game. Everyone got to play except one kid and Scoop didn't know why, I think coach forgot him and he didn't say anything. Scoop says he plays pretty good from what he has seen at practice.

Next week, Scoop plays in Fairview on Monday, then Kingfisher comes to us on Tuesday. Our season is in FULL SWING. . .and I LOVE IT!

The JV and Varsity travel to Newkirk today for a scrimmage. I don't think that Birddog and I are going to be able to make it. I don't get out of class until 4:30 and by the time we make the hour drive they will be close to winding down. If I have to miss something I would rather it be a scrimmage. Bud's first game will be December 1st.

P.S. If you haven't figured it out, Scoop is #25. . .:)

How Could This Happen?

The following photos are rather nasty, but I had to share them. . .My boys are avid hunters and we are still in amazement and how this could happen. . .Some DUMBA$$ wasn't paying attention to what he was doing. . .I don't think that I would care to go hunting with that one again and I would probably spread the word that if you want to live it wouldn't be a good idea to hunt the with the DUMBA$$. . .

Sorry, we are VERY BIG on HUNTER'S SAFETY. . .There's enough problems with the government trying to take away guns from the innocent people - this kind of stuff doesn't help (even though it's an arrow). . .

Pictures following are rather gross but EYE-OPENING. . .

What Would You Do?

I've really been pondering what to do here. . .As you all know from prior posts my friend "Farmer" has a daycare out of her home. . .Over the last few months I have really pulled away from doing things with her. . .Not because she isn't fun, but because she is always wanting me to give up my time to help her. . .(meaning leave my job - give up my $ - and go out and watch her daycare kids so she can go do something else). . .

Now, some of this was so that she could go with her dad to the doctor. . .I understand, trust me and I don't mind helping out a friend. . .But, does it make sense for me to give up my hourly wage (which is probably what she makes for one kid per day) for absolutely nothing? I would NEVER ask a friend to leave their job to help me out for nothing. . .She makes the money. . .Like I said, I don't mind helping out - I've done it. . .But, she has gotten to the point she is making a habit of it. . .In an emergency situation I WOULD DO IT WITHOUT MY COMPLAINTS, but if it can be planned she needs to TAKE THE DAY OFF like she is wanting me to do. . .don't ya think?

What would you do?

Jumping right into our Next Sport - Basketball

Friday night was our last football game of the season. . .Tuesday the boys started basketball practice. . .Tonight, Scoop has an inner squad scrimmage as the freshmen boys have their first game Monday the 13th. . .Wow! ! ! To think, Scoop was just fully released last week. . .

I'm excited and ready. . .Basketball is my all time favorite sport to watch the boys play. . .It's a long season but I LOVE IT! ! ! Both the boys are starters. . .and the assistant basketball coach told me that Scoop and a couple other freshmen are going to be playing some JV ball also. . .YEAH! ! ! That means I get to spend hours at the gymn watching. . . :) I will start with Scoop, then JJ and Ali (girls varsity), and then Bud (boys varsity). . .Be ready - I plan on posting TONS of pics! ! !

Bud had his first PT session yesterday and was given homework. . .He should be able to play just fine. . .We were told that once something like this happens that it is very likely it will happen again - UG. . .

Have a WONDERFUL Thursday! ! !

New Camera

Okay peeps we got a new camera. . . .Yes, that was how I got the picture of Bud's nasty toe. . .Sorry. . .

Don't mean to seem like I am copying Ree but WOW will it take some SWEET pictures! ! !

These are pictures I took of a flower arrangement Bud gave to JJ's mom for her birthday. . .I was playing with the Macro lens.

Bud was shooting some pics with it and got one of Birddog. . .

My Birddog complained all night long when he couldn't watch Boston Legal due to all the election coverage. . ."Do they not realize that not everyone wants to watch this shit all night long? Cover it on the news and let us watch tv."

Beware! I will be posting pictures as we learn to use our new toy! ! !

YUCK!

Yesterday afternoon I FINALLY got Bud into the doctor for his ingrown toenail (that is infected). . .

We went to a new doctor and I was impressed. . . He told Bud that he didn't know how he played football with that toe looking like that - he said it had to hurt like Hell. . . Then he asked Bud if he knew how to cut his nails and Bud told him. . .Doc said, "I bet you just tear the nail off don't you" and Bud answered yes - Doc said, "I do to but after seeing that I think I'll practice what I preach." . .

Beware - this pic is GROSS. . .

The doctor put him on Penicillin for a week and on November 17th he is getting it cut off. . .Yeee OUCH!

Doctor is also sending him to Physical Therapy for his shoulder for 2 weeks. . . He told Bud that he would think that was okay because some of the girls there were pretty cute. . . :)

On another note, Scoop had his first Basketball practice yesterday and did great! ! ! Y E S!

Winter Ball - 2006

Tonight is Winter Ball. . .
Bud went to JJ's and they had a candlelit meal. . .Mac & J joined them for dinner and they all went to the dance together. . .

Scoop's group met up down the street. . .In my opinion Ali was the prettiest girl there. . .(Silly, you'll approve of this girl - just like JJ very athletic). . .Birddog and I like her (don't care for her momma but that's nothing). . .lol
The tie looks really good with the dress - don't you think?

Here's the girls corsages - JJ's left, Ali's right

They all looked so nice! ! !

Football Season Over

Last night the Longhorns played their last football game of the season. . .We drove to Perkins, Oklahoma and played their first game on their new field in their new complex. . .Wow, what a setup! Really nice. . .

Unfortunately, our boys lost: 36 - 6. . .We had 4 starters on the sidelines with injuries. . . .

Here's how I got to watch my boys play the last football game. . .

Scoop was pretty much a given, that when he got to where he could walk he would be the Camera-man (white stocking hat). . .They've been pleased with his work - thank goodness. . .
And, YES, unfortunately that is Bud with the red stocking hat on. . .He separated his left shoulder Thursday at practice. . .There is no surgery or anything that can be done. . .His arm is in a sling to relieve the pulling on the muscles and give it time to heal. . . :( We were really bummed. He planned on playing nothing but defense last night, but after they warmed up and started stretching the coaches sent him to the locker room to get dressed. . .He couldn't play. . .Coach Chad told me that Bud really wanted to play but the coaches decided as a whole that Bud was trying to be to tough (he had tears in his eyes when they were stretching). . .

It was a bummer but I am getting geared up for Basketball. . .and I was really glad that the decision was made by the coaches. . .I was worried. . .

What A Night

This is KiKi. . .She was one of the many kiddos that visited our door last night. . .How do you like my photography skills? (I gave KiKi red-eye. . .)

After she made her rounds through the neighborhood, she came back and helped me hand out candy. . .and boy, did we hand out some candy! ! !

JJ didn't make it to our house until 8:00 last night. . .The girls basketball team scrimmaged and they didn't get done till late. . .Bummer. . .Bud did help a little and JJ got with the program when she got here :). . .

We had some really cute costumes. . .I saw the cutest Dracula. . .He was a little bitty guy! ! ! And let me tell ya what, his mom did a fantastic job getting him ready. . He had the PERFECT V-hair and all ! ! ! I didn't get pictures of the kids, it was coooollllldddd and they were all moving rather fast. . .

The little lady that gives out popcorn balls every year did it again. . .KiKi gave Bud hers! ! ! He was one happy boy. . .I told him to go to her house and just tell her that he missed them. . .LOL . . .

I miss taking the kids out to play make-believe. . .but then again, as cold as it was and remembering freezing at times I didn't miss it that much. . .LOL
