Just Sharing

Thought for the Day

"The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment."

These boys were B-I-G

Bud usually makes the other kids look short. . .He's 6'2". . .He looks like a midget! This young man is the same age as Bud and he is 7' tall. . .There were a couple of other boys on the opposing team that were 6'10" and 6'6". . .

This was our first team in the tournament. . .Our boys did the best that they could and at one point were within 4 points. . .Unfortunately we lost by 10. . .

Today should be a little easier for height but they are still going to have to play hard for a win.

Through My Front Door

Vicki has asked each of to us post our view from our front door. This is going to be so much fun to see what our blogging friends view is every time they open their front door!

The snow made our view prettier than the poor brown grass. . . :)

I had to add my front door picture. . . I like Willowtree's!

And, here is the biggest selling point of our house. . .this is the elementary school. . .Bud was in his second semester of Kindergarten when we bought our house. . .

Yes, I did add more pics. . .sorry. . .

Here's What I Have Been Doing

We had two games scheduled for Saturday but the snow that moved in postponed those. . .Scoop is to finish up his tournament Wednesday afternoon. Bud's game that was to be Saturday night has not been rescheduled. . .He starts another tournament Thursday. . .It's a good thing I love basketball! We are booked up!

Baseball is going to be worse! But, both the boys will be at the SAME PLACE, SAME TIME - what a relief!

:o

Here's a one-question IQ Test to help you decide how you should
spend the rest of your day......

There is a mute who wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing one's teeth, he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.

Now, if there is a blind man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses, how should he express himself? Think about it first before scrolling down for the answer...

He opens his mouth and says. "I would like to buy a pair of sunglasses"

If you got this wrong please turn off your computer and call it a day.

I've got mine shutting down right now.

A Bit of a Break

We didn't get hammered like a lot of people did. . . Yes! Sorry for those of you who did. . .

Today's games are postponed to Wednesday. . .my times will not be conflicting which is a little wierd BUT I WILL TAKE IT! Scoop will play at 11:30 and Bud will play at 3. I should have plenty of time to get back for Bud's game. . .

It's still going to be busy, but not as bad. . .YEEESSSS!

I can use this evening to get ahead on homework, maybe? :) I'm taking a Telecommunications class and IT IS VERY, VERY BORING. . .My other 3 classes are actually pretty interesting. . .Advertising is going to keep me on my toes! We stay the whole time and do 1 - 2 projects a day. . .PLUS homework!

Have a WONDERFUL MONDAY! I must be off to work. . . :)

Weather Permitting

Boy, this next week is going to be a crazy one - WEATHER PERMITTING. . .

So far the weather hasn't been very bad. We have had sleet but none of the freezing rain YET. . . According to the weather forecasters we are supposed to get .5 - 2" of freezing rain, sleet and snow. . .The sleet hasn't been bad - nothing stuck to the trees and power lines. . .if that rain comes in it could be a booger! So let's just hope we get sleet or snow. . . :) It looks like those further east of us could be getting it a lot worse than us. . .Vicki I know you are over there somewhere! I hope it doesn't include you for the electrical outages! Songbird and Tiggerlane - are you included in this mess?

Anyway, next week I will probably not be posting at all - unless the weather doesn't permit us to do what is scheduled. . .

Due to the weather the tournament Bud is playing in has been rescheduled for Monday and Wednesday. . .He has a ballgame scheduled for Tuesday night and Friday night. . .

Scoop starts a tournament Monday. He will play Monday, Thursday and Saturday. . .He is supposed to drive Saturday (may have to switch with another group and drive Sunday) to finish his driver's ed course. . .

Wednesday night I am supposed to attend an After Prom meeting and Sunday afternoon a Sports Boosters meeting. . .Plus work and school. . . :)

Birddog is a little upset because he will not be able to attend either of the boys games on Monday. . . I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to watch Bud here at 3 and be 45 minutes away at 4:20 for Scoop. . .It really stinks when the boys have conflicting games! But, I may not have to worry about it if the weather has the roads unsafe. . .

On another note - MOM'S BRAGGING RIGHTS - both my boys are on the Principal's Honor Roll! ! !

Oh What Fun!

Vicki had an idea yesterday that perhaps we could post a picture on our blogs of the view from our front door. Willowtree had the idea we post them all on the same day. I thought that was just a fabulous addition.

So here's the plan Stan.

So that all people who are participating can have one central place to see all the front door views, if you want to participate (and I hope you do) email me your blog link and the name of your blog by January 19th and on Monday January 22nd I will post a list of blogs that are participating. We can all post our view from our Front door on the same day, Monday January 22nd.

Ohh the nosy side of me is getting very excited.

So if you can participate email Vicki at prettygirlrodeo at sbcglobal dot net

Tell your Friends. Announce it on your web blog. Come One! Come All! Post Your View!

Another Ice Storm?

The weather forcast is snow and ice for us in the next few days. . .Just a few years ago we had an ice storm that took some time to recover from - no electricity for us for almost a week. . .Rumor has it that it could be that bad again. . .

We are getting propane so we will have a way to cook should we loose our power. . .We have firewood (more than last time) and plenty of blankets. . .We have meat and potatoes, bacon and eggs so we will be able to eat. . .And, we will fill some coolers with water (we have a well) :)

That was the worst part of the last storm - not being able to shower! UG - yuck!

Bud is supposed to start playing ball tournament beginning tomorrow - we'll just wait and see what mother nature brings us. . .We won our game last night against Blackwell (2nd win against them) and they are our first game Thursday night in the tournament. . .

Have a great hump day! ! !

Wow!

I am sitting in my first class this morning. . .yeehaw! The books aren't in yet and she is babbling on about Flash, the program we're using. Rather boring at the moment, hopefully it will change - I'm gonna learn how to do graphic animations! Maybe I'll be able to jazz up my blog page. . . ?

We won our ballgame last Friday night - after losing to the team (Fairview) the first time they played them. . .We won by 4 and Bud got to make the last bucket - he said he wanted to dunk it but was afraid it would bounce out so he chose the lay-up. . .LOL. . . We play Blackwell tonight at home. . .we beat them the first time we played them, so they will be coming for revenge. . .

Please forgive me for not visiting and blogging on a regular basis right now. . .I promise - things will get settled back down. . .Bud plays in a tournament Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and next week Scoop will play in a tournament. I am hopping from school to work to a ballgame somewhere and then stop in at the house. . .LOL. . .

HeHe

Oklahoma State Trooper

"In most of the United States, there is a policy of checking on any stalled vehicle on the highway when the temperatures drop down to single digits or below.

About 3 AM, one very cold morning, Trooper Allan Nixon #658 responded to a call there was a car off the shoulder of the road outside Shattuck .

He located the car, stuck in deep snow, and with the engine still running. Pulling in behind the car with his emergency lights on, the Trooper walked to the driver's door to find an older man passed out behind the wheel with a nearly empty vodka bottle on he seat beside him.

The driver came awake when the Trooper tapped on the window.

Seeing the rotating lights in his rearview mirror, and the State Trooper standing next to his car, the man panicked.

He jerked the gearshift into 'drive' and hit the gas.

The car's speedometer was showing 20-30-40 and then 50 mph, but it was still stuck in the snow, wheels spinning.

Trooper Nixon, having a sense of humor, began running in place next to the speeding, but still stationary car.

The driver was totally freaked, thinking the Trooper was actually keeping up with him. This goes on for about 30 seconds, then the Trooper yelled, "Pull over!"

The man obeyed, turned his wheel and stopped the engine.

Needless to say, the man from Dumas, Texas was arrested, and is probably still shaking his head over the State Trooper in Oklahoma who could run 50 miles per hour."

Who says Trooper's don't have a sense of humor?

Aggrevated

Here lately I have been getting really aggrevated. . .I don't know if it's just me or if other people see a lot of these things too.

Birddog and I take care of our own. Our parents don't buy our children's clothes, shoes, athletic camps, etc. - we pay for all of it. . .We have several friends that their parents are constantly helping them, therefore, their kids get to do a lot of things that we have to tell ours that we don't have the money. Needless-to-say I get really upset. I don't want my parents help, the kids are our responsibility - but how do we get them to understand.

I know I'm not supposed to be envious or jealous - but IT STINKS!

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

Well, the boys are getting around a little slow this morning. . .today is their first day back to school after their break. . .Can't say that they had much of a break - they had basketball practice almost every day. But, they have a basketball game Friday, so they had to practice to stay on top of things. . .:)

I start back the 9th. . .yippee. . .Last semester! May 5th at 10:30 a.m. - YES - FINALLY. . .

I've spoiled the guys at work by being there all day long (which has been difficult). . .I've gotten a little spoiled to bringing home a little more money too! Boy, I've learned a few more things about mechanical contracting too! Wowzers!

Here's hoping you all can get the lead out of your pants and get back into your normal day-to-day routine. . . :)

New Year's Resolutions

Ha ha! I quit having a resolution because I always disappoint myself. . .

Instead - I have decided I want to loose weight this year. . .I feel like I look like the Goodyear blimp and want to loose 50 pounds. . .So, forgive me if I get grouchy. . . :) I don't mean it personally. . .LOL . . .my poor family. . .Almost 3 years ago I quit smoking - I'm finally over all that drama, so now I'll loose the weight that I've put on due to the extra stress that IS NO LONGER IN MY LIFE. . .

Wish me luck! ! ! I'll take any and all suggestions. . .I'm starting by cutting down on meal size and light exercise. . .I invite all of you that want to join me to do so and let me know - we can complain to one another. . .

Here we go!
